Fri 8th Mar - Factors, Multiples and Equivalent Fractions


LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Develop skills in recognising Factors and multiples and use this knowledge to find equivalent fractions / simplify fractions

SUCCES CRITERIA: You will be able to list factors of a number, Multiples of any number. YOu will also be able to use this knowledge to find equivalent fractions and to simplify fractions

STARTER: NRICH Digital Clock reflection

LESSON: Quickly remind what a factor is and what a mulit[ple is. Then spend 20/25 mins playing the factors/multiples game. Go around room encourage students to devlop strtegies for winning quickly.

At an appropriate time stop the game and have a review of equivalent fractions, trying to use factos and multiples to get students to find equivalent fractions and simplify fractions quickly.

PLENARIES: Checking answers to any questions on IWB, Encouraging development of winning strategies for multiples/factors game.

HOMEWORK: There are two MyMthas homeworks to be completed for next Friday - a level 4 Equivalent fractions and a level 5 Equivalent Fractions - Please aim to get green in both of them - repeat as many times as you need to to get a green!!
